WORST DATE
The decades since my dating days have mostly become a blur, but I still have some painful memories of “first AND last dates” I would rather forget.
After breaking an engagement, then turning the Big 3-Oh, I swore off men and lived happily single for over a year. However, in a vulnerable moment one night, I agreed to a date with a soft spoken man I met at a local nightclub where I was partying with friends.
Although I tried to keep an open mind and heart, the “meet market” wasn’t really my scene. Still, I was somewhat excited though apprehensive when he picked me up to go dancing at a popular downtown nightclub.
From the very beginning, something told me this was going to be a lonnnnng night. And I was right. After ordering our drinks, my date informed me that it would be “Dutch treat” and I would be buying the next round. Well, oh-kay.
Apart from that surprise, the loud band, and his indifference made it nearly impossible to have a quality conversation. He didn’t ask even ONE question about me, all night.
When we were finally up dancing to the one song he liked, my wallet had been stolen from my unattended purse (including my cash, paycheck, bus tickets, credit cards and favourite pics and my ID!!). When we returned to our table and discovered this, I was devastated.
Apparently after sweating on the dance floor, this guy’s toupee had come loose (which suddenly made him look 10 years older). But he was more concerned with fixing his hair, than reporting the theft to the management or consoling me.
That is, until he realized I wouldn’t be able to pay for anything else! At that point, I was so disgusted that BOTH of us were more-than-ready to leave.
As we arrived at my place, I realized I had no money to get to work the next day. Although I mentioned this, of course he didn’t even offer bus fare.
This guy was vain, insensitive, boring and squeaky cheap, with a bad rug to top it all off !!
I can’t remember exactly what I said in my hasty scramble to escape from the car, but the “rose colored glasses” fell off fast, as it became totally clear —
This dude was a Dud!

May 9th, 2008 at 4:32 pmThis Guy was a real nerd! I would have helped my date, and took to her to a place romantic, and talked to the lady and made her laugh. I would have brought her to the dancefloor, and took control, as long as she sparked my interest, I would soon mentioned that I was interested in her, and wanted to make love at my place or hers, whichever was best suited for my date, if she said i don,t on the first date, I would understand, and gain more respect for her.
